Designed by architect Ole Scheeren and scheduled for completion in 2017, DUO was awarded a Silver award in the Best Futura Project category at MIPIM Asia Awards. It is an integrated development comprising premier residences, Grade-A office spaces, a retail gallery and 5-star hotel.
660 of Astra’s top-of-the range 3000 Series size 3 concealed hinge-edge door closers were supplied for the entrance doors for apartments in the DUO towers. The closers have enabled the architects to maintain the sleek minimalist lines that the aesthetic called for, whilst complying with all appropriate fire and safety regulations.
For this kind of blue-chip development, concealed closers the obvious choice since they are not visible when the door is closed, avoiding the somewhat institutional and ungainly appearance of overhead closers. The Astra 3000 series closers were chosen because, with full adjustability, they were powerful enough to handle the doors’ weight and width.
