THE PERFECT FINISH FROM ASTRA

7/8/2022

With a selection of seven different finishes as standard on Astra’s most popular closers, there’s a concealed closers to complement any hardware design scheme: from the ever-popular satin stainless steel to glamorous polished copper.

Astra’s concealed door closers were originally developed to offer the adjustability and control of an overhead closer, coupled with the aesthetic appeal of a concealed device. So it’s no surprise that they offer architects and designers the opportunity to create doors that are fully compliant with standards and regulations without the rather clunky look of overhead closers to spoil design lines. And with a selection of seven different finishes as standard on Astra’s most popular closers, there’s a concealed closers to complement any hardware design scheme: from the ever-popular satin stainless steel to glamorous polished copper.

While it’s often door handles that form the basis for a door’s design style, but it is important that all the hardware on the door matches perfectly. That’s why Astra offers a range of finishes and colours as standard, plus bespoke finishes on request.

Satin stainless steel still remains the most common choice for door closers but in recent years bronze has made a strong showing. Bronze finish closers – both dark and light – fit perfectly with the hottest ironmongery trend of the last few years, and a new copper closer is the perfect match to the striking modern designer look of copper handles and fittings. A brass or antique brass finish will perfectly complement more traditional design styles while polished and satin chrome finishes work in harmony with more modern commercial schemes. In addition, Astra 3000 and 4000 Series closers can be supplied in any RAL colour, making them a perfect adjunct to corporate design suites and both are available with a choice of square or radius fore ends for extra design flair.

One project where the finish of Astra’s concealed closers were used to particularly striking effect is the Rocque Bay residential development in Jersey. Castletree Homes designed the development of 13 apartments and three town houses on the former site of The Shakespeare Hotel overlooking the stunning Harve des Fontaines Bay in Jersey. Architectural ironmongers Irontree Solutions have created bespoke door solutions for the apartments, supplying more than 200 satin white panelled doors in a range of glazed and fire-rated designs in bespoke sizes. They featured art deco door furniture in polished chrome finish to provide a high-end aesthetic to compliment the modern design of the building. They selected Astra 3000 Series concealed jamb-mounted closers, also in polished chrome, providing a sleek, unobtrusive solution that seamlessly matches the design finish of the doors.
